Mr and Mrs Pacman (Misfit)

I just got the urge to check on the progress of the MisfitMAME project and
saw that a new (but old) release was posted based on MAME 0.62. The
webpage mentioned a "Mr. and Mrs. Pacman" that was included. Since Pacman
and Ms Pacman are my and my wife's favorite games, I was intrigued.

I found that I have the mrmrspac.zip romfile from my Pacmame installation
(based on 0.58 -- it doesn't run it). So I fired up MisfitMAME to check it
out. It looks just like Ms Pacman. Is there something I'm missing?

Based on the name I thought maybe player 1 would control a Ms Pacman
character and player 2 would control a Pacman character -- that would be
very cool, and would amuse my wife a lot. Am I missing the point of what
that game is supposed to be? And if so, what exactly is it supposed to be?

The game comes up with an info screen that says:

Thanks Sune! That clears that up.

The latest date on MisfitMAME is 1/9/2004 -- a good sign that work is still
progressing (even though it is still based on an older build of MAME). Is
MisfitMAME the new home of all the PacMAME games? I noticed that a *lot*
of the games listed were Pac variations, many of which I recognized from
PacMAME. I'd love to see the Pacman variations moving forward in terms of
MAME version numbers.

That's exactly what it's supposed to do, is it not working for you?

Nope. I looked at widel.com and read the description of the 2 player Ms
Pacman game assuming that's what this was supposed to be. It describes a
game with one player more or less controlling the red monster. Is that a
different game?

I'd *love* a game that behaved like I originally described. Are you sure
that's what Mr. and Mrs. Pacman is supposed to be? (Are you Dave Widel? :)
)

When I play a two-player game on Mr. and Mrs. Pacman, I just get two Ms
Pacman characters -- just like the original Ms Pacman game. I'm running a
romset in MisfitMAME32 0.62 named mrmrspac.zip with contents:

Forgive some of my ignorance. I finally scrolled down on the front page of
Widel's website! I saw the pic of the baby at first and assumed the arcade
stuff was on the other pages at the site!

That game looks very cool! Is that what Mr. and Mrs. Pacman is supposed to
be? Do I have the wrong romset (see my previous post)?

on getting the game actually playable. Maybe this was a first-cut that
didn't have anything new in it?

If anyone has the real two-player Mr. and Mrs. Pacman rom and would be
willing to email it to me, I'd be most appreciative (Dave doesn't seem to
have it for download at his site at the moment).

Ok, I now know what's going on. I have some sort of very old
mrmrspac.zip file. It's dated 9/17/2000, much earlier than 6/2003

this was a first-cut that didn't have anything new in it?

More googling around has revealed to me that Mr. and Mrs. Pacman is
apparently a Pinball game. The rom that I have must be for PinMAME.
Although PinMAME claims that the romname should be m_mpac instead of
mrmrspac -- which is the name of the newer game by Dave Widel.

So it seems that I *don't* have the game I want at all. Again I plead:
anyone have it and would be willing to email me a copy? I've checked the
binary groups, and they are all posting copies of the above mentioned
PinMAME rom claiming it is a Misfit rom (actually, it will run in
MisfitMAME, but it isn't the one I'm looking for).

What is "misfit"?

There is a version of Mame called Misfit Mame which plays hacks and a
few of the removed games. Don't have the link to it handy. HTH
