I'm just getting back into MAME stuff and I'm having a problem with
Galaga.

I'm using MAME32 (0.62) and can't seem to get any of my Galaga ROMs to
work.

If I unzip my standard Namco Galaga.zip I have the following files:

gg1-1b.3p
prom-5.5n
gg1-2b.3m
gg1-3.2m
gg1-4b.2l
gg1-5b.3f
gg1-7b.2c
gg1-9.4l
gg1-10.4f
gg1-11.4d
prom-1.1d
prom-2.5c
prom-3.1c
prom-4.2n

but MAME seems to need others, such as 04m_g01.bin

I guess I'm doing something silly (the ROM path is correct, for what
it's worth) but I'm not sure what it is I'm doing wrong.

Any pointers? Do I need a repackaged ROM file, and if so any tips as to
where to find it?

Many thanks.

romsets change from version to version (redumps, renames, reorganize
parent/clone relationships etc..etc..). Update them. Usually people use
a rom management tool (clrmamepro, romcenter, etc) for this.

Downgrade in his case as he seems to use 0.62. May be he should update
MAME instead.

Wow, that was middle-posting. ;-)

I solved it by _downgrading_ MAME, believe it or not :-)

All the games I want to play are of Galaga's era, so I don't need
anything overly sophistimicated.
